BOARD GAME EVENT

This weekend, we here at DumeeGamer.com were invited to take a look at the monthly Board Game Event organized by Boardgame Club Midden-Limburg, which was founded almost two and a half years ago by three guys: Steven Frencken, Bas van Kempen and Danny Stoll.

I happened to know one of the members. Thatís how I heard of this event and having played more than a few board games in my time, decided to pay this event a visit. The event started at 14.00h. Itís a good thing to be there right from the start because some board games could take a while and joining in halfway through the game is usually not an option. So I arrived right on time and I could immediately join a small group who were just about to start a card game called Love Letter.

After a couple of rounds of playing Love Letter we decided to play another game. It was time for King Of Tokyo. After this, we also played a couple of rounds of Charades, right before diner. On the one hand it was really fun to play a game I already knew and on the other it was equally (if not slightly more) fun to get to know some real cool games Iíd never played before. For example, there was one group occupying themselves with the preparation for an elaborate game of Star Wars. Just the preparation for this game took about half an hour.

This Board Game Event takes place every second Saturday of the month from 14.00 till 22.00 hours. You can participate whether you're a member or not . Whether you own a dozen board games or none at all. Or whether or not you have any previous experience in playing board games. Everyone can join in, and thatís exactly what makes this event so much fun. And if you like bring your own board game or games than you are very welcome to do so. The atmosphere is very relaxed and everyone is very helpful and nice. Although anyone can participate, becoming a member of this group does have its benefits. You donít have to pay the entrance fees and you can benefit from discount deals with publishers.

This is a very good way to spend your Saturday.
