DOOMSDAY PREPPERS

Prepping; preparing yourself for the ever-imminent doomsday. You will need a safe place to live and survive, supplies and maybe even a vehicle. But how do you prepare yourself for TEOTWAWKI (The End Of The World As We Know It)?

National Geographic broadcast the series Doomsday Preppers. Doomsday preppers are being filmed during their activities. Can't Stop Games and G5 Entertainment used this concept to develop a entertaining game to play on your Smartphone or tablet. You are a prepper en your mission is to build a safe settlement under the ground.

The goal of this game is to increase your ability to survive, in case of a Doomsday. The time you could currently survive is shown on screen. By building floors or training your preppers, this time is increased and trophies can be earned.

I think this game gives an honest image of how prepping costs time and money. Luckily the time of how long something takes is shortened; otherwise you would mostly be waiting for stuff to finally finish. After you’ve built a couple of floors you're just checking if everything is okay with your preppers and give them new supplies. I check in with my preppers twice a day, so I can give them new jobs, build a new floor and collect money. And that's fun!

You can build six kinds of floors: Shelter, Security, Food and Water, Science, Workshop and Recreation. In each shelter there's only room for five preppers. In return they will work for you and help you with the preparations. They all have different skills, so make sure you use everyone’s talent in the right way. This game starts easy, but will be more difficult because everything will become more expensive and take more time to build. You have to be smart here and make the right decisions. That way you optimize and expand your bunker increases you chance of survival. You can build up to 135 floors and produce over 300 kinds of products. It's possible to prep together with your friends through Facebook and exchange products.

It's cool that the developers thought of achievements. Almost everything you do will get you something in return and that is very satisfying. I had the feeling I was doing a great job. You can make your job a little bit easier to take a stab at the promo codes. You have to think of words which have something to do with prepping. If you guessed a word right, you will earn a free floor!

You can use this to your benefit, because floors will cost you money and sometimes diamonds. These diamonds are hard to collect, so it basically slows down the whole building process. But if you're smart enough to guess a word right, this floor that would’ve normally cost you an arm and a leg is yours… for free!

Doomsday Preppers is a great game. It gives you an idea of what it takes to be a prepper in a joyful and playful way, and one of the best features… It’s free-to-play. There is the possibility to buy extra's to speed up things, but whether or not you go down that road is entirely up to you.
