FANCY CATS

I had actually planned on telling you about this awesome app Fancy Cats sometime earlier this year, but I was just too distracted by all the cute looking cats that really needed my attention. I have to clothe them and feed them and pet them. Do I need to say more?

Fancy Cats is an app game which is basically a three-in-a-row type game. These games can be a little tedious at times, so I'm always curious to see how the developers manage to add some difficulty to them. Most of the times, this results in empty spaces or various other objects in your playfield, so it becomes harder to form a set of three. Another approach that is often taken by developers to tackle this specific problem, is the addition of a timer or a similar construction. And while these constructions do spice things up a little, most of the time, these kind of games can't hold my attention for long.

But this was definitely not the case with Fancy Cats! The three-in-a-row game is only a way to earn stuff. The game starts with the basic field, a place where you can check your achievements and pick a game. Next to it, you'll find a garden with already one cat in it. This cat needs food once in a while and he will let you know by means of an icon above its head. It will also be happier if you pet it, give it toys and... dress it as fancy as you possibly can!

Food, toys, clothes and if you're lucky even cats, can all be acquired by playing these three-in-a-row games. You can also win some in-game money, which you can spend in the shop. The shop offers you clothes, toys, snacks and even more cats. The higher your level, the more items there will made available in the shop. That's your incentive, right there! If I earn enough money, I can finally buy more cute cats and stuff for my ever-growing feline zoo.

You can also use money to buy more gardens, so you can collect more cats. The first garden was a plain garden, but after that there will be themed gardens, like a winter garden (complete with snow) and even a space garden! Every garden has its own unique cat, so you'll buy a garden and a cat at the same time. Though that might seem like a great offer, I must say the gardens are a little overpriced. The first two gardens we're doable, but at the moment of writing, I have to save up 50.000 coins to unlock the next garden. And yes, I know I can spend real money on in-game transactions to speed things up, but I can't help it, it still feels like cheating to me.

The cost of the gardens is actually the only complaint I have about Fancy Cats. It's really a good game, works problem free and the cats are ever so cute. The developers must have realized that, so there is a camera mode in the game that lets you photograph your cat and, of course, share them with your friends through the miracle of social media.

I have been playing Fancy Cats for four months now and I'm still enjoying it! I love that there are special theme updates like Halloween and such (I'm already looking forward to Christmas!). I own fifteen cats at the moment and I love to pet them and dress them and... wait a darn minute! Am I a crazy cat lady now?
