Let me start by offering a huge apology to the developers of Football Game. We had this game ready to play for a couple of weeks now at our DumeeGamer HQ. Ferry "Sadhonker" Adams wanted to play the game, because he is our point and click expert. But it is also an game set in the 80's, so that's why I wanted to play this game so bad.

But, as it turns out, being an 80's kid wasn't much of an argument because we're both 80's kids, so Ferry wouldn't accept this for an answer. Well, to make a long story short, after weeks of careful deliberation, we finally came to an agreement (I hit him over the head with a frying pan...) and now it's definitely time for me to tell you all about: Football Game!

First things first, let's meet main character Tommy. He had a great night yesterday, which results in him having somewhat of a hangover today. But he has to get up now, because he has a date with his girlfriend, Suzy. And you know what happens if you don't show up on a date with your girlfriend. As my loving husband Ferry always says: "A happy wife is a life!" (I'm not sure he still agrees with this after he regains consciousness, but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it). I, for one, couldn't agree more, so let's continue with our story!

So, Tommy has his big date to get to. But alas, Tommy's dad needs the car for himself and Tommy's mom doesn't want to let him go, because he drank alcohol last night. So he's stuck in the house with no hope for parole. Somehow, you'll need to get Tommy out of the house, take the car and go to your date. I'm not going to spoil the solution of course, but I think it's sweet and mighty brilliant at the same time!

When you manage to find your way to the car, you can put on some music by putting a cassette in the car stereo! How awesome is that! For all those youngsters out there, who don't know what a cassette tape is, just Google the damn thing. It was how we listened to music before there was mp3 or even CD's. Yes, 60 or 90 minutes of glorious analog music on each tape!

The controls of Football Game are very simple and similar to other point and click games; Left click to interact, right click to observe and at the top of your screen there is a menu in which you can find your inventory. The back ground of the game is pretty dark. It looks pretty cool, although it can sometimes make spotting items a somewhat arduous task.

During the game you'll get to see flashbacks. They gave me the idea that sometime strange or disturbing happened. But Tommy doesn't remembering any of this or at least he doesn't react to those flashbacks. Maybe there is more to this story, than one would think at first sight.

I must say, that Tommy's girlfriend, Suzy, is not the most punctual of girls out there. When you are at the playfield where you two were set to meet, she's nowhere to be found. And even worse; no one has even seen her! But the more you progress through the game and the more flashbacks you'll get to see, the stranger things get. Something's not right and you also get the idea that some of it is happening because of something bad you did... Say what?

Well, this is one mystery you'll have to sort out for yourselves. If you're a fan of the eighties and you like point and click games, Football Game is definitely something you're going to like. For €1,99 (or the equivalent value in your country) you'll get 40 minutes to an hour of game play, depending on your level of expertise in playing games of this genre. There's no two ways about it; Football game is a nice game for a fair price!
