ESCAPE THE GHOST TOWN

After the dream of having my own soccer team finally came true, I am now stuck in a nightmare. I am trying to make my way out of an abandoned town in the game Escape the Ghost Town. It is a short 15 level game which you can play anytime anywhere. The general look of the game is very nice. In the top-left corner you can press a blue circle to go back to the main menu. In the other top corner you can press another blue circle to get a walkthrough if you get stuck. It will automatically connect you to a YouTube-channel.

As mentioned previously, the game is just 15 levels which are all quite short. It usually takes you about 5 to 8 actions to get to the next level. Although this might sound awfully quick, some steps do take some time to figure out. I often found myself going back and forward between 2 locations in a room, trying to solve the puzzle at hand. The start screen of each level is the overview of the room you are in or location you are at. By tapping on the correct spot within the room or location you go to another screen where you can either find objects or where you have to solve a puzzle. The levels get harder over time, but after a few of them you already get the hang of it, making sure it wonít take too long to figure out what to do. And if all else fails, the walkthrough can come in very handy at times. I must be honest; I had to check the walkthroughs for some levels.

When the walkthrough still canít help you with a specific puzzle, even the game itself steps in to help you out. How do I know? Easy! In one level I just couldnít figure out how to solve the problem, so I started hammering the screen of my Smartphone. After a time of random clicking, the game gave me the option to skip the puzzle. So yeah, the game thinks you are not up to the task to solve the puzzle at hand when a certain amount of time goes by and you do nothing besides frantically clicking your screen.

Overall the game is a nice way to pass time when you are travelling by train or sitting on the toilet. I would like it to be a bit longer because once youíve finished a level it is no fun to play it again because you know exactly what to do. And yes, having the walkthroughs just one click away might also not be that smart because it makes it a lot less challenging when you canít figure it out. But hey, itís a free app, so thereís actually nothing to complain about, is there? Just have fun with it and Escape the Ghost Town!
