MYSTERY CASE FILES: KEY TO RAVENHEARST

I played a couple of games from the Mystery Case Files: Ravenhearst series before and really liked them; I think they're great games and fun to play. The game is developed by Eipix Entertainment and published by Big Fish Games, so that should be a guarantee for excellence! What have they come up with this time? Is Key to Ravenhearst as good as the previous games in the series? I expect so; I will find out and let you know.

Key to Ravenhearst is the fourth game about Ravenhearst and its very odd residents within the Mystery Case Files series. I'm very curious how the story continues. It seems they have rebuilt Ravenhearst since the last time I was there (sorry for that, by the way...) and want to turn it into a museum.

As one would suspect, you can choose between different difficulties: regular, hard and insane. Each difficulty level has its own level of offering you, as the player, help. You get a lot of help when playing the ‘regular' mode, somewhat less help when playing on ‘hard' mode and almost no help at all when playing the ‘insane'. But, unless its predecessors, Key to Ravenhearst lets you create your very own custom difficulty setting! For example, you can choose to lessen the helpful glowing indication lights but, at the same time, keep the possibility to skip puzzles. This way, you can really adjust the game to your own preferences, which I personally think is a great feature to have! Naturally, the game features a map and a guide, as well as a very helpful hint button that really looks after you and provides you with helpful information on your travels.

In the Ravenhearst games, you always play as a master detective. This time, you've received a letter from her majesty the Queen herself, and it brings disturbing news. Someone has acquired the land of Ravenhearst and is rebuilding the edifice. When you start playing Key to Ravenhearst, you will first receive a short recap of what has transpired in the previous Ravenhearst games, bringing you completely up to speed and getting you ready to go and solve the hell out of this mystery! I think this recap is a really good idea, especially if it's been a while since you've played a Ravenhearst game or, although I couldn't imagine why, have never played any of these fantastic games before.

In Key to Ravenhearst, shadowy forces are planning to resurrect the Grandfather of the Dalister family by placing dead people in strange pods. It's my job to prevent this from happening, which is easier said than done! The game takes you to hidden objects areas, combined with especially amazing puzzles and a thrilling tale of mystery. Eipix Entertainment did it again; they managed to create a fantastic game with a great story, beautiful artwork and challenging puzzles. As far as I'm concerned, nothing about this game is a disappointment; it's that good!

Oh yes, here's a little tip from Daisy: Don't forget to collect ravens and morphing masks! In the heat of the moment, I didn't manage to find them all, so I can't say what your reward is. I guess I'll just have to play the game again... (* extremely theatrical sigh *) Such a punishment! If you finish the game there's a bonus game about a character from the game: Benedict, and how he came to be at Ravenhearst. Benedict was a victim of the Dalister family, who needed him for their nefarious plans. Find out how the family managed to get him under their spell. So, once again, it has been an awesome trip to Ravenhearst! I managed to solve the riddle and make the world a bit safer. I thoroughly enjoyed playing Key to Ravenhearst and I'm sure that, when you start playing this game, you will too!
