THE CREW 2

Ever since I played the beta-release of The Crew 2, I was looking forward to see and play much, much more of it. Man, this game is such an adrenaline ride; the boats, the planes, the cars!!! All pure motorized awesomeness! Because of this, last Friday was a very good day! The moment was finally there; I could finally play the full release of The Crew 2. So fasten your seatbelts and get ready to go really, really fast!

In the time I have played the Crew 2, I have amassed a veritable buffet of gasoline guzzling goodies! I am now the proud owner of a Ford Mustang and Dodge Viper, which I use for drag races. Let me tell you, these babies go from nothing to really, really fast in no time flat! I also have a bunch of sturdy and awesome rally cars and even a Monster truck. And, to top it all off, I have a boat and an airplane; how cool is that?! So, as you can see, you can own a lot of different types of vehicles and figure out which one you prefer.

There are three major vehicle categories in the Crew 2; cars, boats and airplanes, and for every category there are multiple race and stunt courses, which are divided into four categories themselves: Street Racing, Off-Road, Pro-Racing en Freestyle. You'll need certain vehicles to enter certain story episodes, but you can also skip them if you like. At least that's what happened to me; I had completed the first two episodes when I was able to enter the fourth one. The question "Where the hell did the third one go?" popped into my brain, but I decided to ignore it for the moment. I found this missing episode eventually, but I couldn't enter it, because I needed a certain vehicle which I didn't own at the time. So, in order to finish every story episode, you're going to need an extensive collection of vehicles.

In the Crew 2, America is your playground! As we all know, America is kind of big, so the overall map needs to be big as well. An excellent feature of this map is how you can zoom in until you can see the actual ground, trees and water. But what I like best is that the developers used the real names of places across the US. Now, I'm no expert, because I never visited those places (never been to America) but I can tell you that these places are most excellent to do some racing in! Between races, you can visit the map, select the next race and fast travel to your destination. But why do this if you can also just drive from one race to another. This, in my opinion, is so much better then fast traveling! Mainly because you aren't focused on going really fast, you can take the time to relax and simply enjoy the view. And what a view it is!

The main thing you will be doing during your time in the world of The Crew 2 is, of course, racing. Complete tracks and challenges in order to receive loot and money so you can customize and upgrade your vehicles which, in turn, lets you win even more races, loot and money. You can see where this is going can't you? Naturally, a sizeable amount of money should also go into buying new vehicles. And while there are a great many cars, boats and planes to choose from already incorporated into the game, Ubisoft made the solemn promise that the release of The Crew 2 is only the beginning of a great adventure. The development team will work very hard to add even more awesome content to the game in future. So, as you can probably imagine, I'm pumped to see what they'll come up with next, because the game is already sooooo awesome!

Another thing you will earn as your career progresses, is a steadily growing amount of followers. The amount you earn is directly linked to how well you perform. Take, for example, a stunt course; the bigger your stunts are, the more followers you will earn. It's that simple. Plus, I personally think it's a nice incentive to push the limits of what you think you can do Trust me, if you've got a plethora of adoring fans, the last thing you want to do is let them down!

The Crew 2 is a worthy contender to the throne of the race genre. The races are cool and the idea of earning followers is quite unique. And I don't know why exactly, but you will care about how many followers you have! The Crew 2 is a game that offers enough support for players who aren't that experienced in race games, while still being challenging enough for the veteran fans of the genre. So, if you like to go fast, get your hands on The Crew 2, rev your engines and burn some serious rubber!
