DISC JAM

Every once in a while, a game comes along that's just so much fun to play. And, maybe even more importantly, fun to play without it even being like a complicated masterpiece. Now I'm not saying Disc Jam is not a masterpiece, because it is a masterpiece! A simple and incredibly fun to play masterpiece!

In Disc Jam, you basically play an intensified, modernized, more tactical variant of the classic Pong game, but instead of playing with a pixelated ball, you play with a disc. And instead of you being a pixelated bar, you're an actual character! You could also look at it as the way you play air hockey, once the disc is behind you, you're opponent gets points!

But throwing the disc past your opponent isn't the only way to score points here, you can also use a dropshot (like in tennis) and try to throw the disc on the ground at your opponents' side of the field, that'll get you points too! I still don't get the way the amount of points are decided for each score you make, but I personally don't mind because the game is just a hell of a lot of fun to play and it doesn't go stale quickly.

It's pretty easy to learn, and the tutorial actually teaches you how to play in a really quick and easy way, so it's not a pain in the ass to go through the tutorial like in some other games! You also get coins for every game you play, which you can use in a vault to get some parts to customize your character and even your disc! Just another reason why you stay motivated to keep playing!

Overall, Disc Jam isn't the game with the most depth to it, but it's just the simplicity of it all that makes it such a fun game to play. That's why I reckon it will stick around for a long time coming! Also, I love beating my friends! Every. Single. Time. Mwuahahahaha!!!

EARTH DEFENSE FORCE 2025

The PS Plus of March contains an awesome 3rd person shooter for the PS3: Earth Defence Force 2025! The game in question was developed by a Japanese developer, so this can only mean one thing: Whatever it is, it will be over the top! And let me tell you, it put a big grin on my face from the moment I start playing. I even had to stop playing once in a while because, if my grin got any wider, my ears would fall off!

Earth Defence Force 2025 shows us a world that is attacked by huge and dangerous creatures from outer space: ALIEN BUGS! That's right ladies and gentlemen; the alien bug apocalypse has taken over the world! Ants and spiders will do their very best to kill every citizen they can find. And it's up to you and your team to save the world by finishing off all the bugs and wipe the cities clean.

Before you actually start playing, you can choose a soldier class, weapons and the colors of your outfit. The soldier classes are dived in four types. You can play as a Ranger, which is the most balanced class and therefore recommended to start with. As a ranger, you can carry two weapons, which can be selected before play. The Wing Diver will spend most of her time in the air, but has low defense. The Air Raider which is basically the support class and can carry three weapons. And the Fencer is has the most defense and can carry four weapons, but is hard to master, because he can't move fast and has many special moves and attacks.

When you have chosen your class, you can customize your outfit to match your favorite color and select your weapons for the upcoming level. Weapons range from weapons like assault and sniper rifles to rocket launchers, grenades and laser weapons. Apart from selecting your loadout, you can also select the difficulty level before each round. The beauty of this system is that the choices you make are not final; you can change between classes, weapons and difficulty level before every round you play.

I had a blast playing this game! It was fun to shoot the hell out of the alien bugs. If you have PS Plus and a PS3, Earth Defense Force 2025 is really an awesome game to add to your collection. It's fun to play on your own or spilt screen coop. It's truly an bugs-ellent game!
