A couple of years ago, Developers Blackmill Games and M2H gave us the beautiful new WWI Shooter, Verdun. This game put gamers from around the world squarely in the muddy and blood-soaked trenches of France, in particular in the Verdun area, after which the game was called. The war-torn landscape was challenging to navigate and danger lurked around every corner. If you haven't yet read my review of Verdun, you can do so here. Now, about 2 years later the devs have given us a first glimps of the new WWI shooter they are creating for us: Tannenberg.
This time, they will take us to the Eastern front! Tannenberg is mainly set in Poland where, during the First World War, the German and Russian Army's battled for dominance of the region. Similar to the previous game in the 1914-1918 WW1 game series, the game is multiplayer only and pits up to 64 players up against each other. Now with more colorful maps and more game modes to boot, like the new Maneuver game mode, which has full AI Bot Support.
In the current stage of the game's development, the game features four maps, and let me tell you; they are huge! In stark contrast to Verdun, I noticed that the maps where much more open as the battlefields are situated on the eastern front which, in contrast to the western front, saw a lot less use of trench warfare during the battles, so features much more open spaces for you to traverse.
Not only will the devs continue their development during the early access period of the game, they also promised that gamers who own both Verdun and Tannenberg will, in the somewhat near future, be able to seamlessly switch between the two games in the series, which makes it all the more awesome in my opinion. Soon we will get to see more and more content being made available. And, judging from the success of Verdun and the already impressive current state of Tannenberg, I am betting you that the latter will sell as well as Verdun has (1.000.000 copys by now), if not more!!!!
