Three years ago, I visited the Indigo Festival for the first time. One of the games I saw back then was Super Man or Monster. Now, three years later, this game is actually getting released! It's so cool to see such a game finally being launched, am I right?

Super Man or Monster is a game which offers you the choice to play as man or monster. When you decide to play as a monster, it's your task to wreck the city and destroy all the buildings as fast as you possibly can. The Man's job is to defend said city, so he will do anything in his power to defeat the monster before it reduces the entire city to a smoldering heap of rubble.

I chose to play my very first round as the monster. I love the names of some monsters they came up with in this game, like T-Wreck and Doomosaur. It kind of gives you the idea what the monster's hobbies are, doesn't it? And for good reason because, let me tell you, being 80 feet tall and wrecking a city feels so good! You have some basic movements like walking around, stomping and smashing. You'll also start off with a special ability, which is Dashing. Dashing is cool; you'll dash through a couple of buildings in one crushing move, which will save you a lot of time destroying the city. As you progress through the game, you'll unlock more abilities like shooting a fire ball or farting (yes, really). Remember to buy enough of these abilities before you enter the next mission. The abilities don't require a cool down, you can use them as many times as you've bought instances of them.

After a couple of missions, I decided it was time to try my luck at being a man. Wow, that sounds strange! Let's call myself "hero" instead of "man" in this case, alright? So, I entered the missions as a hero and my task was to stop this monster from ruining the city. And by stop, they mean kill! I have a gun to help me with that, but just as the monster you have some special tricks upon your sleeve to make your life easier. In this case, you can build units; mines, tanks, helicopters and the likes. Let's just say; as long as it shoots, it will show up in your inventory eventually.

During your missions, be it as monster or as a man, it's important to keep an eye out for collectibles. Special coins can be used to customize/upgrade your character. There is only one coin per level, so it's really important to collect these shiny little helpers. Next up, good old, plain money. You need all the money you can get to buy the special abilities/units. Like I said earlier, there are no cool-downs, you can use them as often as you wish, as long as you have bought enough of them. And when you play as man, you can also save civilians, which adds extra money to your total balance. You can only spend your money and coins when you're in-between missions, so make sure your inventory is sufficiently stocked before trying to take on the next mission!

The missions are set in big well-known cities, designed in a 3D, 8-bit pixel look. The first mission takes place in our own Amsterdam! How cool is that? After that, you'll visit Brussels, Rome, Berlin and many more European cities. And when you finish destroying or saving all the European cities, why stop there? Why not take over the whole wide world? By the way, every time you save a city as Man, you can plant a flag to celebrate your victory. But the really cool thing is when you score a victory as the Monster; Let's just say that I agree with Katy Perry on this one: you're going to hear me roar!

And you know what the best news is? You can enjoy this game in split screen mode! One playing as the Man and the other as the Monster. Divide the roles, pick your abilities and it's, ready..set..go! May the best Man... or Monster win! Playing together with a friend is a really great way to enjoy this cool game.

I had a blast playing Super Man or Monster. It's great to see a game, which you've played at an early stage, launch. It is even better when the finished product is as good as this game is! If you like the 8 bit style, quick battle and a lot of crazy action, Super Man or Monster is definitely the game for you!
