A few years ago, I read a lot about a game called “Awesomenauts”, and the more I read about it, the more interested I became. I had already played my fair share of League of Legends back then, so I was curious to see what this game could add to the MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) genre. After playing Awesomenauts for the first time, I was immediately hooked. Being a MOBA enthusiast, I thought Awesomenauts was a fantastic game and I loved every second of it! The game has come a long way since its initial release in May of 2012 and now launches its “Overdrive” DLC for PC, featuring 3 brand new characters and giving me and Awesomenauts fans around the world just what they were hoping for. The Playstation 4 and XBox One version of this DLC will be released in the near future.

The Year is 3587; immensely large robot armies are locked in a battle that rages across the entire universe. To tip the balance in their favor, each respective side has enlisted the help of the greatest fighting force in the galaxy: The Awesomenauts. You play as just such a super soldier and must fight your way through tons of enemies and turrets in order to destroy your enemy’s base and win the battle.

When you first start playing Awesomenauts, you might have a somewhat difficult time if you haven’t played any MOBA type games like Smite or League of Legends before. But as you keep on playing Awesomenauts, you’ll eventually get the hang of it and start noticing you keep getting better and better at it fairly quickly. I would recommend playing a few Bot-rounds (play against the AI of the game) to get a feel for the game before you rush headlong into the actual multiplayer part of it, where ‘dog eat dog’ is the understatement of the century. By defeating enemies and robots, you gather points that can be used to upgrade both your Awesomenauts as well as your base.

The controls in Awesomenauts are absolutely perfect and leave nothing to be desired. Every character has its own set of skills and role in the game; one might be better at supporting roles, while another might be able to take a lot more damage before dying or packs a lot more punch, inflicting greater damage to enemy forces.

The graphics and soundtrack are equally awesome; the 2D cartoon art style makes the game look colorful and absolutely fun, while the soundtrack perfectly fits the game’s frantic nature. Because it is a 2D game, you can only move sideways or up and down, which helps to differentiate Awesomenauts from other MOBA titles out there. You don’t need the best performance PC in the world to play this cool game and if you have a half-decent internet connection, lag won’t be an issue, which hugely helps to immerse yourself in the all-guns-blazing, breakneck-speed world of Awesomenauts.

So, in conclusion, if you are a fan of MOBA games, Awesomenauts just has to be part of your game collection. The game already has a big community, so there are literally tons of people out there to play against or team up with. And you know what they say about MOBA games; the more that play them, the bigger the game gets! And who knows, we might get even more characters, levels and other content. Hell, there might even be official tournaments in the future. So get your gear ready and rush into the fight; it’s time to be awesome!
