A little while back, I played the beta for Monster Hunter World: Iceborne and had a lot of wintery monster fun! So, naturally I was looking forward to the full launch of this DLC, which has now finally arrived!

First things first; As one would suspect from any DLC package, the Monster Hunter: World base game is required in order to be able to play Iceborn. And while players will be able to enjoy some of the gameplay options such as the Slinger and weapon updates right away, they must have worked their way up to a Rank 16 Hunter in order to access the new Iceborne story and quests. Now this is actually the reason why this review took a little more time than usual. The life of a reviewer is not all sunshine and rainbows, you know; it's also a lot of. well, let's call it work, shall we? I would love to state that I never played another game in my entire life since I had Monster Hunter, but alas; there was other stuff to do as well. So, I'm deeply sorry to make you wait this long, but let's not dwell in the past and let's take a look at the amazing world of Iceborne!

So, what's new? Well, there is a big new land to explore, which you can see on your brand new map. To make sure you can prepare yourself to the max, there is a very nice new basecamp. Here you can buy everything you'll need for this amazing and frosty adventure. Of course, the old gear that you've collected during you earlier adventures is still there. But this is a new land with new dangers, so you'll most likely have to change your gear and loadout. Especially because this is a land where freezing temperatures are ever-present. This means you will need warm clothing and nourishing food to protect your body from the biting cold.

If you like the Monster Hunter World game, this DLC will make you more than happy. It will provide you with more new content than you can swing an icicle at. New upgrades, new weapons, new items and, of course, new monsters! I'm still very happy with the new Slinger tool options which has a Clutch Claw grapple mechanic now, enabling you to latch on to monster, mount them and attack them from above! In terms of graphics, because the original game was already breathtaking, the details of Iceborne are so cool; from footsteps in the snow when you walk around to the snow on every stone and branch. And when you dodge-roll your clothes will even be covered in snow. I love it! And although I'm slaying beasts, it does feel sort of Christmas-y.

Needless to say, I personally think Iceborne is awesome DLC for an awesome game. The level of details is, once again, breathtaking and the theme fits perfectly with the weather of the upcoming months. If the snow won't fall outside, at least you can enjoy the frosty fun in your own home!
