No matter which LEGO game you throw at me, I'll play them all and have a blast while doing so! Maybe this has something to do with my childhood, when we had a big pile of LEGO and my brother, my sisters and I would build our very own town, complete with LEGO railroad and. well, like I said: good memories! Unfortunately, I'm not building much with my LEGO anymore nowadays, but luckily there are still LEGO video games. So let me take you on a trip through the latest addition to the ever growing LEGO games family: LEGO DC Super Villains!

And it's a good thing we're here, because there is something fishy going on. You might have heard about an awesome group of heroes called the Justice League. They we're always around to protect Earth and they did a good job up till now, I might add. But now the Justice League has disappeared and another Justice League from a parallel universe, which are calling themselves Justice Syndicate, is now responsible for the mammoth task of keeping Earth out of trouble, although Earth never seems to have trouble getting into said trouble. Alas, the new league of heroes are far from being anywhere near as hero-like as their predecessors. So, naturally, someone has to step up and do something about this situation. So, Someone?...Anyone?....Please?

Naturally, this is where you, the player, comes in. You can create a villain character and customize him or her to your liking, completely in LEGO style of course! Now, the "create your own character" routine has actually already been used in LEGO video games before, but what I really liked about LEGO DC Super Villains is the f act that your character is an integral part of the story. Remember how avatars of LEGO characters will pop up at certain puzzles or when an specific action needs to be performed that only a certain character could do? There will be some parts in this game that will actually show the avatar of your custom character, giving your character a legitimate place in this LEGO DC universe!

Your character stays customizable during the entire game in the Hall of Doom. This ominously named building is the Head Quarters of the Villains and it has a changing room. Once there, you can change your appearance and load-out, which comes in really handy from time to time, especially because you will unlock a lot of extra content while playing. You can also create up to twelve different characters here, so you can create a whole bunch of new villains, super heroes, whatever you want! Are you not that keen to create all kinds of characters? Don't worry, because there are more than fifty DC character to unlock, so you can also join this adventure as Joker, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, Deadshot and many, many other famous characters from the DC Universe.

Now, I'm a big fan of open world games and LEGO DC Super Villains offers just that; a huge open world to explore, complete with thousands of collectibles and missions, so there's never a dull moment. You can choose to pick up the main story whenever you feel prepared and ready. These storyline missions feel more like the older and familiar LEGO games, like he Harry Potter series for example. In the open world you can basically do whatever you feel like doing and actually choose between good and evil. Your actions will have consequences though, so if you pick up somebody's car and throw it at a building, chances are that the Police will try to find you. When this happens, a bounty will be placed on year head, making it a smart idea to make yourself scarce for a while. It is a lot of fun actually, bringing out you inner bad guy!

As in practically every LEGO game, the developers did a great job making things simple for the player. If you want to travel from A to B, you can choose to walk, but there are also a lot of vehicles at your disposal. Still not fast enough? Well, you can always just click on your map to use fast travel. Talking about that map, keep an eye out for DC Johnny, because he can show you points of interest on the map. And if you need a certain character, just click the corresponding button and the game automatically selects the right character, provided you have already unlocked that specific character, of course. Thanks, good people of TT Games, for making my life easier!

LEGO DC Super Villains is an excellent game. Harley Quinn and Joker are my two absolute favorite characters in the entire DC universe and they are really funny in this game. Although, after playing the game, I must admit that my very own created character might snatch up the title of "My Favorite Villain". I like the whole game; they nailed the characters, the setting is awesome and options are nigh endless. It's everything I hope for whenever a new LEGO game releases; it contains all the stuff I already know and like so much, combined with some awesome new features! So yes, after playing LEGO DC Super Villains, I can only come to one conclusion: It's good to be bad!
