Ladies and gentlemen, the day has finally arrived! The long awaited day on which I can finally play a remake of a game I previously played when its original version came out! Ladies and gentlemen, I am now... officially... OLD!

The announcement of this game came rather out of the blue, as we were all waiting to see what the Pokémon Direct from January 2020 had to bring regarding Sword & Shield DLC. We suddenly got hit by the news that the Original Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games were getting a remake for Switch, and that it would be out as early as March!

So here we are, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon has come out. Boy, was I anxious to play this! Yes, I indeed said anxious! Why? Because I was worried that I wouldn't enjoy it as much as I did back when I was a wee child and that I would have outgrown the joy I had when playing this game on my trusty GameBoy back in 2006. Luckily though, I did enjoy the hell out of it! I now finally know the joy of indulging oneself in nostalgia!

For those who haven't played the original versions of this game, let me give you a quick summary of the concept. One day, you wake up in an unknown place, without so much as a smidge of a fraction of an inkling as to where or how you got there. Upon waking up you see a Pokémon standing in front of you. Instead of saying its name like Pokémon usually do however, the Pokémon you meet actually starts talking to you in your own language! Thoroughly freaked out by this unexpected turn of events, you look around you, only to find out that you have turned into a Pokémon yourself! As you try to figure out what happened to you, you form a Pokémon rescue team together with your partner. You dedicate your days to saving Pokémon who are lost in dungeons and are in dire need of help. By doing so, your team levels up and earns rewards to become even stronger!

I went into this game remembering the pure basics of how it worked and what the story was about. I was pleasantly surprised, however, by a few things I forgot over time, like the humor of the game, which is nowhere near being over the top or anything, but just right, making funny moments happen from time to time that I couldn't help but chuckle at. Little things like that can truly turn an already good game into a great one!

And that's just what Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX is; a great game! From the story to the combat, to the amazing new art style they implemented for this remake! The graphics play a big part in making this game, originally from 2006, a perfect fit for a modern-day Switch game. The scenery is looking brilliant as well, the town square looks so beautiful and the cutscenes before boss battles are pretty damn cool too!

So, if you like Pokémon, dungeon crawlers and great graphics, GET THIS GAME! And you don't like those things, GET THIS GAME ANYWAY! You will seriously love every single minute of it, even if you haven't played the original!

P.S.: Don't you dare call me a boomer now that I classify as "old" for having played the original! I (along with my band of highly trained Pokémon) will find you!
